The Violence Against Women Program at TNO addresses the critical issue of gender-based violence by providing comprehensive support to individuals who identify as women and are experiencing various forms of abuse. This program aims to promote non-violence and empower clients to rebuild their lives after experiencing violence.

How We Can Help:

How We Can Help:

  • Supportive Counselling: Offering a safe space for clients to express their concerns, receive emotional support, and feel heard.

  • Safety Assessment and Safety Planning: Collaborating with clients to prioritize their safety, especially those in vulnerable situations. This includes creating personalized safety plans to ensure immediate safety and reduce the risk of further harm.

  • Application Assistance: Providing help with filling out forms for financial aid, legal assistance, housing applications, and social services.

  • Resource Navigation: Offering information on rights related to child custody and available support services.

  • Transitional Housing Support: Assisting clients in finding temporary, secure housing, whether in family shelters or women’s shelters, in urgent situations.

  • Advocacy, Referrals, and Community Outreach: Advocating for clients’ needs, referring them to essential services, and engaging in community outreach efforts.

Who is Eligible?

TNO’s Violence Against Women Program offers free support to any individual who identifies as a woman, is at least 16 years old is living in M3C or M4H postal code areas and is experiencing any form of gender-based violence.
