TNO Celebrates its 40th Anniversary of Community Work with the 2025 Summer Festival

By: Ahmed Jemal and Bushra Alam

This year marks TNO’s 40th Anniversary, and we were proud to celebrate this milestone with our community at the annual Summer Festival on August 9th, 2025, held at RV Burgess Park. What began in 1985 as a small group of volunteers at a local school has grown into a multi-service organization serving over 34,000 clients across Toronto this past year alone.

This year, TNO had the largest turnout yet, with more than 2000 attendees joining us to celebrate four decades of service.

Our day began with a warm welcome from TNO CEO, Ahmed Hussein and featured live performances from senior entertainers and local artists, including rapper Crick.YYY and singer Lana Lola. Families and youth also enjoyed somatic yoga, Zumba, the Henna table and the bouncy castle.

The event also showcased TNO’s departments and services through interactive booths, where community members played games, entered raffles, and learned about TNO’s wide range of programs. The community had a chance to win prizes including everything from cookware to plate sets.

Guests were treated to a delicious selection of beef, chicken, or vegan burgers, along with popcorn and cotton candy.
