Land Acknowledgement
TNO – The Neighbourhood Organization acknowledges that our work takes place on the traditional territories of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Ontario. These lands have long been home to the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and many other Indigenous Nations, and continue to be home to diverse Indigenous communities today.
We recognize the 46 treaties and other agreements that govern these lands, and we acknowledge the historical and ongoing injustices experienced by Indigenous peoples as a result of colonization and systemic inequities.
TNO is grateful for the opportunity to live, work, and serve on these territories. As a community-based organization, we are committed to building and nurturing respectful, collaborative relationships with Indigenous peoples and communities. We honour the inherent and treaty rights of Indigenous Nations and commit to ongoing learning about the histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples.
We recognize the diversity within Indigenous communities and seek to work together on matters of mutual interest. We acknowledge our shared responsibility to care for the land and its resources and to contribute to a more just, inclusive, and equitable future for all.
