Land Acknowledgement
As staff, volunteers, students, participants and service-users of TNO – The Neighbourhood Organization, we acknowledge that the land on which we gather and work is situated upon traditional territories. These lands were originally the homes of the Wendat, Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, Metis and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, and continue to be.
Today, the meeting place of Toronto is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island (Canada) and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work in the community, on this territory. We recognize that many of the barriers faced by newcomers in their settlement on this territory continues to be faced by Indigenous peoples across this land.
We make this acknowledgement because we are committed to anti-oppression, anti-racism and equity in all aspects of our work.
