“Ahmed tirelessly leads TNO’s work and strategic development,” said TNO’s board Chair Shelina Shivji. “He is well respected in the community and is an exemplary leader in all that he does on behalf of our communities and the organization.”

Recognized as a leading provider of integrated services to newcomers to Canada, TNO supports various government programs with face-to-face and virtual services to underserved communities. Its collaborative programs include language training and housing support, as well as multifaceted child, youth and senior services. Working with a wide variety of institutions and stakeholders, TNO ensures equitable access to resources that strengthen the quality of life in neighbourhoods it supports.

“This is a remarkable organization and I am proud of the work we are doing to improve the lives of residents from all walks of life,” said Mr Hussein. “For more than 35 years, TNO has served culturally diverse communities in east Toronto, and I look forward to growing its strengths and expanding the programming we offer.”

Taking a holistic approach to development and social services, TNO is focused on reducing poverty, fostering employment, and ensuring better health outcomes. The organization is well respected and supported by its partners, including diverse foundations, corporations, individual donors and leaders across various sectors.

Addressing the pandemic, “I’m proud of our team and what TNO has done to address many of the challenges presented by COVID-19,” added Hussein. “Having set up an assessment centre, created an emergency food bank, and equipped the community in numerous ways to reduce the spread of the virus, we look forward to our community soon hosting one of the largest vaccination sites in Ontario.”
