Become a Board Member

Interested in becoming a Board Member of TNO?

TNO-The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO), a community-based agency serving Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park and surrounding communities is recruiting candidates for its Board of Directors. TNO needs talented, committed and skilled community-minded volunteers to help lead and govern the organization. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply.

This year we are looking for two new directors to join the ten directors who will continue in office. Some of the directors have direct experience with the problems faced by the people served by TNO and others have helpful, specialized expertise or knowledge gained from their education or workplace.

We are seeking candidates who are interested in serving on the board of a charity which serves clients in the Flemingdon Park, Thorncliffe Park, Crescent Town and St. Jamestown neighbourhoods. We are seeking potential candidates with experience in Human Resources, marketing/social media, law, IT and fundraising experience. We are also seeking candidates with a corporate background who have financial and risk management experience. It is preferable, but not necessary, that candidates have some experience serving on another charity Board. While not necessary, it would be beneficial to have some affiliation with a charity as a volunteer, former staff or consumer of the charity’s services. Being a resident of Thorncliffe Park or Flemingdon Park is an asset.

The new directors should be team players, be interested in the mission of TNO which includes helping newcomers to Canada and providing services to children, youth, seniors and those looking for employment and be ambassadors for TNO and the people it serves.

If interested please send your resume to info@tno-toronto.org, attention Brook Physick, Governance Committee Chair, or drop it at TNO’s Main office at 18 Thorncliffe Park Drive, Tel: 416-421-3054/ fax : 416-421-4269.

The deadline for submitting your applications is Friday, May 18, 2018.

The time commitment is usually 4-6 hours per month that includes Board meetings and Board committee work.

Thank you for your interest.
