Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) helps newcomers learn English and assists them in the settlement process and integration into Canadian society.

TNO’s LINC Program provides part-time free English language classes from beginner to advanced language level for permanent residents, convention refugees and live-in caregivers. Classes are offered in the morning, afternoon and evening at different locations in Thorncliffe Park. The following supports are offered through the program:

  • TTC Tokens are available for qualified participants
  • Free childminding services for children from 19 months to 6 years of age may be available for qualified participants depending on space
  • Activities to help newcomers and their family members to continue English language learning at home
  • Computer lab to assist in language learning

Before registering, please call the YMCA Assessment Centre at 416-925-5462 to book an assessment test.

LINC Classes are scheduled as follows:                               

Morning: Monday – Friday from 9am – 12pm
Afternoon: Monday – Friday from 12:30pm – 3:30pm
Evening: Monday – Wednesday from 4:30 – 7:30pm
